Prehabilitation is a form of strength training done prior to the anticipated surgeries, most effective in orthopedic ailments, the aim of prehab is to make the patient fitter prior to the surgery for the speedy recovery. A well designed Prehabilitation program leads to a meaningful changes in post operative functional exercise capacity. According to the National Institutes of Health, “By improving an individual’s functional capacity through increased physical activity before an anticipated orthopedic procedure, it seems reasonable to assume that the individual will maintain a higher level of functional ability and rebound more rapidly in the rehabilitation process

Shahril R. Shaarani etal conducted a study on effect of Prehabilitation on outcome of acl reconstruction and concluded that a 6 weeks of prehab program resulted in improved knee function

Patient education is a big part of prehabilitation,they are instructed in what to expect and do before and immediately after surgery to maximize healing, range of motion, strength, and overall recovery. patients to be educated on their impairments so that they can work prior to the surgery to minimize the time span of recovery
